In a low-scoring contest between the Eugene Vandals and the Cut Off Crawdads, Shane Park was the X factor. The Eugene right-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. Eugene reliever Edgar Liriano picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. José Heredia absorbed the loss. Picking up the save was 22-year old left-handed pitcher Denis Morris.

The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Victor Haynes came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Cut Off pitcher Carl Gray, he hit a 1-2 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Eugene on top, 2-1.

"Shane was the difference maker. He was emotionally under control, had good stuff and makeup," said Eugene manager Milton Mathews.

The 5th-place Vandals have a record of 16-14.
