Hobeaus Earn Win with Late Rally
With right fielder Bob Lawrence leading the charge, the Smoky Mountain Hobeaus defeated the Chicago Tula, 4-3, at Smokies Stadium. Lawrence, who is tied for 8th in the PA in total bases with 64, was 3-4 with a triple and 2 singles. He scored 2 times. Smoky Mountain reliever Luis Quiñones was the winner. His record is now 2-0. Cooper Jefferson took the loss. Picking up his 10th save was 20-year old right-handed pitcher Albert Longoria.

The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Esteban Cruz came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Chicago pitcher Cooper Jefferson, he hit a 1-0 curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Smoky Mountain on top, 4-3.

Cruz said his team "played with determination."

The Hobeaus now own a record of 17-21.
