South Beach got a first-rate effort from pitcher Dani Rodríguez, who frustrated Monroeville hitters en route to a 3-1 Blaze triumph at The Ballpark on the Beach. The winner was Rodríguez. He threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Jung-keun Kim. George Young earned the save for South Beach, his 1st of the year.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Blaze had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when right fielder Dustin West hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Jung-keun Kim and made the score 2-1, Blaze. West was 1 for 3 with a walk.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Monroeville skipper Todd Hunter, "and it cost us."

South Beach raised its record to 22-18 with the win.
