Vandals Notch 7-1 Win Versus Jets

The Kennesaw Jets had their hands full with Eugene Vandals starter Stanley Werner, who frustrated Kennesaw hitters while leading Eugene to a comfortable, 7-1 win. Werner, the winner, moves to 3-4. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 2 walks. Pedro Garza recorded the save, his 1st.
Eugene used a well-timed hit by José Aguilar to capture the win. The catcher socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the first inning to put the Vandals ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"We did a lot of things right," said Aguilar.
Eugene, now 24-18, holds down third place in the Premier A.
