A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Eugene Vandals and Smoky Mountain Hobeaus.

Eugene catcher José Aguilar made his presence felt in the 8-4 Vandals triumph over the Smoky Mountain Hobeaus. Aguilar went 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 4 runs. Eugene pitcher Shane Park got the win, upping his record to 6-2. Gijsbert Arents got the loss. Tony Peña earned the save for Eugene, his 2nd.

With Eugene leading 5-4 in the bottom of the sixth, Aguilar hit a 2-run single off Smoky Mountain hurler Luis Quiñones. It was the 35th hit of the season for Aguilar and put his team ahead, 7-4.

"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Aguilar told reporters after the game.

The Vandals improved their record to 26-22 with the win over Smoky Mountain.
