The South Beach Blaze and Put-In-Bay Commodores played an exciting game.
The South Beach Blaze picked up a win at Put-In-Bay Ballpark, knocking off the Put-In-Bay Commodores, 4-2. Starting pitcher Wes Bascombe played a key role in the triumph. Travis Farmer came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. His record now stands at 2-0. Chad Morris notched his 15th save of the season.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Rudolf van Kastel? The 24-year old center fielder van Kastel stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put South Beach up, 4-2. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"I really like what we did out there today," van Kastel said after the game.
South Beach has won 3 straight, while Put-In-Bay has lost 3 in a row.
