Johnny Walker powered the Chicago Tula to a win over the Monroeville Yinzers. The final score was 6-4. The Chicago right fielder, who is tied for 2nd in the PA in RBI with 32, was a force to be reckoned with. He banged out 2 extra-base hits, including 1 home run and 1 double. Craig Cummings got the win, improving to 4-4. He worked 6.1 innings, giving up 3 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 0. Ray Berard, who is rated as the 96th best prospect by BNN, nailed down the save.
With Chicago leading 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth, Walker hit a curveball from Pete Costa for a bases-clearing double. It was his 8th double of the season and put the Tula ahead, 5-1.
"I was just going up there trying to see good pitches, that was about it," said Walker.
By defeating Monroeville, the second-place Tula improved to 30-21.
