South Beach Rallies for 7-3 Victory
|
The South Beach Blaze faced a tough opponent in Kennesaw pitcher Dan Black, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Jets Stadium by a final score of 7-3. Black went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Floyd Schultz earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. He upped his record to 3-0. With the victory, the Blaze record stands at 35-22.
South Beach needed the clutch hitting of Carlos Cordero to notch the win. The designated hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Blaze on top, 4-3. For the game, Cordero had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
In postgame remarks, Cordero said: "To all who've been doubting my effort -- I hope they saw this game."
