South Beach turned a good effort from starter José Castro into a win over the Chicago Tula at The Ballpark on the Beach. The Blaze won the game, 3-2. Castro got the win, improving to 11-4. He gave up 5 hits and walked 0 over 7 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Picking up the save was Chad Morris, his 20th.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Blaze had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fourth, when center fielder José Fernández hit a run-scoring double. The double came off Peter Harris and made the score 3-1, Blaze. Fernández went 1-4 with a double.
"I still think this team can play even better," Castro told the South Beach Daily.
South Beach is 4th in the Premier A with a record of 42-32.
