Commodores Lose to Chicago, 2-1

Chicago got a first-rate effort from pitcher Craig Cummings, who frustrated Put-In-Bay hitters en route to a 2-1 Tula triumph at Put-In-Bay Ballpark. The 'W' lifts Chicago's record to 52-41.
With runs few and far between, the Tula had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Chicago came in the top of the third inning, when 23-year old shortstop Albert Sperring delivered a run-scoring single. The single was hit off Everton Bisdee and made the score 2-0, Tula. Sperring was 2-4 with 2 singles.
Sperring attributed the win to his team's "steely resolve."
