Crossbeaus Eke Out 2-1 Win Versus Amarillo
|
Beaumont starter Juan Velásquez put a stranglehold on the Amarillo offense. The left-hander had complete command of his cutter in leading the Crossbeaus to a 2-1 win. Velásquez got the win, improving to 2-2. He gave up 6 hits and walked 1 over 8 innings. He allowed 1 run. Werner Mooney finished the game for Beaumont and earned his 2nd save.
Alfonso Torres, who is rated as the 88th best prospect by BNN, had a direct impact on the outcome. Torres contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the first inning to put Beaumont up, 1-0.
"Juan pitched his heart out," said Beaumont manager Dan Fletcher.
Beaumont occupies 8th place in the Silver Low A at 9-11.
