Velásquez Now 3-2 After Subduing Shockers
Juan Velásquez was on the winning side of a pitcher's duel at Shockers Field. In fact, the Beaumont Crossbeaus left-hander was instrumental in his team's 1-0 victory over the Surprise Shockers. Werner Mooney picked up his 4th save of the season. The Crossbeaus win now puts them at 12-13.

Velásquez, a native of San Cristóbal, Venezuela, was dealing all game. He kept Surprise hitters off-balance, while giving the Crossbeaus 8 quality innings. Velásquez threw 94 pitches, allowing 3 hits and striking out 8.

"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Velásquez. "Successful pitchers do it."
