Philadelphia got a big-time effort from pitcher Pedro Mejía, but it wasn't enough to keep the Surprise Shockers from winning the game, 2-1. Mejía threw 9.1 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. The second-place Shockers improved to 15-10.

The Shockers got a clutch hit from designated hitter Henry Andrews. In the bottom of the tenth, he hit a run-scoring single to center, to win the game for the Shockers.

"I'm just looking to see the ball, hit the ball," said Andrews.
