Octopi 2-1 Losers to Surprise
|
In a tension-filled contest between the Surprise Shockers and the Ogallala Octopi, pitcher Ricardo Rentería was superb. The Surprise right-hander, who is tied for 3rd in the SA- with a 1.56 ERA, spearheaded his team's 2-1 win. Rentería got the win, improving to 3-2. He gave up 3 hits and walked 4 over 6 innings. He allowed 1 run. The win elevated the Shockers to 18-15.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Nathaniel Heath? The Surprise catcher had a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Shockers on top, 2-1. For the game, Heath had 1 double and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"When you are able to locate the ball, good things are going to happen," said Rentería.
