The Tijuana Toros satisfied the home crowd at Toros Ballpark, treating them to a season-opening win, 6-5, over the Napanee Express. Shortstop Simon Mangrum was the standout performer for Tijuana. Michael Duffy, now 1-0, was credited with the win in 2 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. Pavla Karzinkin earned the save, his 1st, for the Toros.

Tijuana took a 6-5 lead on Walt Paul's 1st home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Paul hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Napanee pitcher Patrick McMillon visibly frustrated.

"Anytime you're seeing it well, it's a good feeling," Mangrum told the Tijuana Observer.
