Warheads Take Down Rams, 3-2
|
Starting pitcher Pepe García was a major factor in the 3-2 Amarillo Warheads triumph over the Ladue Rams. Amarillo reliever Nukie Barerra got the win, raising his record to 1-1. Martín Flores was tagged with the loss. Earning his 1st save for Amarillo was Ken Leach.
Dewitt Hernández drove in one run for Amarillo. The 20-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Martín Flores. It was his 19th RBI of the season.
"What we get, we earn," Hernández told the Amarillo Chronicle.
With the win, Amarillo pushed its record to 29-20.
