Crossbeaus Top Octopi, 4-1
|
Fans who congregated at Nebraska Aquarium were treated to extra-inning drama.
The Beaumont Crossbeaus took Pat Edmonds's best shot and still were able to collect a win at Nebraska Aquarium. The final score had Beaumont getting past the Octopi, 4-1, in 14 innings. Edmonds over 7 innings allowed 1 run on 5 hits, while striking out 8. Andrés Pérez picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Ebbe Oude Nijhuis suffered the loss.
Beaumont used the clutch hitting of Jack Stewart to snag the win. The second baseman drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the 14th inning to put the Crossbeaus ahead, 4-1. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
"There's no quit in this team," said Crossbeaus manager Dan Fletcher.
Beaumont bumps their record to 25-25 with the win.
