Gators Lose Late to Beavers
The Ballard Beavers and North Ft. Myers Gators played an exciting game.

North Ft. Myers got a big-time effort from pitcher Art Lamplighter, but it wasn't enough to keep the Ballard Beavers from winning the game, 4-2. Lamplighter threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Kay Klemert, now 1-0, was credited with the win in 3 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 3 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 0. The save went to Jesse Seals, number 2 for him.

Ballard used a timely hit from Paul Johnson to get the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Beavers ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a difference-maker.

After the game, Ballard manager JoJo Victory applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.

The loss drops the Gators to 2-4.
