Shockers Drop Octopi, 3-1

Craig Jacobs, who is tied for 5th in the SA- in quality starts with 8, never let the Octopi get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his curveball, to pitch the Shockers to a win, 3-1. The winner was Jacobs. He threw 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Jason Roy. Harlan MacKnight got credit for the save for Surprise. It was his 10th of the year.
Bernie Ray had a critical at-bat with two out in the top of the sixth for Surprise. He came through with a run-scoring single to put Surprise in front, 3-1.
"Craig did what Craig does," said Surprise manager José Montalópez.
The second-place Shockers have won 7 straight games.
