Shady Side pitcher Ogai Sugimoto had a large part in his team subduing the Amarillo Warheads, 3-2. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. In 6.2 innings, Sugimoto surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 0. He allowed 2 runs. Bob Powell recorded his 6th save for Shady Side.

Shady Side used a well-timed hit by Donald López to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Zoomies ahead, 3-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Shady Side manager Ralph Gilbert. "It's usually not just one thing."
