Another day, another victory for the red-hot Long Island Ducks.

The Long Island Ducks beat the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople, 9-3. Long Island pitcher and Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines, Canada, native John Rowe led the way. Rowe, the winner, moves to 3-1. He threw 7.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 3 walks.

Long Island used a well-timed hit by Vladimir Pushkin to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Ducks ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"You need to show up when your number's called," said Pushkin.

Early on, the Ducks, at 14-5, have played an impressive brand of baseball.
