The Flint Crush wasted an impressive 7-inning effort from starter Jesse Mitchell, falling, 2-1, to the Greenport Harbor Whales at Ballpark of Robbins. Luis Tirado earned the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 2-0. Miguel Ortíz got credit for the save for Greenport. It was his 8th of the year.
Munich, Germany-born Rak Kuhn came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the eighth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Harbor Whales trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run single to center to put Greenport on top.
"Every loss hurts," said Flint manager Michael Woodard. "But this was a tough one."
The 7th-place Harbor Whales lifted their record to 13-14.
