Rams Topple Interns, 8-3, as González Shines
|
The Ladue Rams beat the Capital Hill Interns, 8-3, at Alouettes Ballpark. The win was due in part to designated hitter Valentín González, who was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Ronnie Palmer was the winning pitcher. Over 6.2 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 8 hits, with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts. With the win, the Rams are 11-22.
Gael Coven, who is tied for 9th in the 3A- with a .298 batting average, was 1-3 for Ladue. In a tie game with one out in the top of the sixth, Coven came through with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It put the Rams in front, 3-2.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Coven told the Ladue Observer. "It's as simple as that."
