Ducks Lose at Home, 2-0, to Greenport
|
Ducks Park hosted an old-fashioned pitchers' duel.
Long Island wasted a solid 7.2-inning effort from starting pitcher Ramón Gómes, losing to Greenport, 2-0, at Ducks Park. Kendrick Anderson earned the save for Greenport.
Greenport used the timely hitting of Will Caldwell to capture the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Harbor Whales on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Caldwell said.
The 4th-place Ducks have dropped 5 straight games.
