Pushkin Slugs Ducks to 4-2 Win
The Long Island Ducks defeated the Greenport Harbor Whales, 4-2. Center Fielder Vladimir Pushkin deserved a large share of the credit. Pushkin belted 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Ducks. Larry St. John picked up the win, lifting his record to 9-4 on the season. He struck out 7 and walked 2 in 7.1 innings, while yielding 2 runs. The win puts Long Island at 43-27 this season.

With Long Island trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the second, Pushkin hit a slider from Bretislav Smaczny for a 2-run home run. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the Ducks ahead, 3-2.

After the game, Long Island manager Cody Blackburn applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
