Simmons Leads Hurricanes to Win
The MSL Cape Coral Hurricanes picked up a win at MSL Cape Coral Ballpark, knocking off the MSL Buckhead Bowties, 5-0. On the mound for MSL Cape Coral was left-hander Ty Simmons. He played a key role in the triumph. MSL Cape Coral has an impressive 21-8 record.

The Bowties had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Hurricanes going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 17-year old left fielder Luke Werkman came to the plate. Werkman hit a solo home run on a 1-0 fastball from MSL Buckhead hurler Martin Sawyer. It was Werkman's 14th home run of the year.

Simmons attributed the win to his team's "collective resolve."
