Lakers Use Late Surge to Win
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the MSL Echo Park Lakers and MSL Long Island Lighthouse.

The MSL Echo Park Lakers withstood an impressive performance by MSL Long Island shortstop Yamato Shimizu to defeat the Lighthouse, 8-5, at MSL Long Island Ballpark. Shimizu was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. MSL Echo Park reliever José Chavarría picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Min-jae Im was saddled with the loss.

MSL Echo Park used the clutch hitting of Jesús Morales to snag the win. The left fielder drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Lakers ahead, 7-4. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.

"Glad to get this win," said Morales. "But we need to keep playing at a high level."

The Lakers are now 10-11, while the Lighthouse fall to 11-10.
