The MSL Philadelphia Liberty knocked off the MSL Long Island Lighthouse, 5-3, in USSL Mexican Summer League action at MSL Long Island Ballpark. MSL Philadelphia pitcher and Belén, Nicaragua, native Santiago Rodríguez had an outstanding performance. The winner was Rodríguez. He threw 5.2 innings allowing 3 runs. The loser was Darryl Nixon. MSL Philadelphia currently is in 7th place in the SL MSL at 16-18.

Haroun bin Thabit dealt the Lighthouse a blow in the top of the seventh. Batting with runners on 1st and 3rd and MSL Philadelphia leading 4-3, bin Thabit hit a 2-0 fastball for a run-scoring single.

Said MSL Philadelphia manager Armando Ortíz: "At the end of the day, these guys have to perform between the lines, and I think they did."
