South Beach's Ernst Sidelined for Season
Thursday, June 7th , 2063
The doctors have spoken and Rick Ernst of the South Beach Blaze didn't like what he heard. The 23-year-old closer is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Ernst sustained his season-ending injury during the Put-In-Bay Commodores game yesterday at Put-In-Bay Ballpark. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the South Beach medical staff reported Ernst had a torn flexor tendon in his elbow and would be absent from the lineup for at least 8 months.

Ernst has no saves with a 1-0 season record and a 3.46 ERA. He also has 9 relief appearances, thrown 13 innings and struck out 11.
