García and Martínez Fight, Suspended 4 Games
Thursday, July 5th , 2063
One player challenged the other with some angry words at the Jets-Commodores game at Jets Stadium yesterday. There was some pushing and shoving -- then the dugouts emptied. There was a lot of scuffling, but no punches thrown. When order was finally restored and the dust settled, the umpires ejected Kennesaw's Juan García and Put-In-Bay's Juan Martínez.
Now both antagonists will get some time off, courtesy of the league commissioner. They were suspended 4 games for inappropriate and aggressive behavior.
Thus far this year, García has hit .172 with 2 home runs and 3 RBIs.
This year, Juan Martínez has made 18 relief appearances, recorded no saves and compiled a 2-0 won-lost mark and a 3.82 ERA. In pitching 33 innings, he has totaled 30 strikeouts and 8 walks.
