The Pawnee ParksNRec put the giddy home crowd in an even more jubilant mood after beating the Port Royal Disaster in the season opener at Whips Ballpark. Right Fielder Iestyn Tuxford won plaudits for Pawnee. He went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Joe Burkett closed the door for Pawnee, picking up his 1st save of the year.
With Pawnee leading 2-0 in the bottom of the second, Tuxford hit a cutter from Ron Woods for a 3-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the ParksNRec ahead, 5-0.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Pawnee manager Jesús Salazar.
