ParksNRec Squeeze Out Win in Pitching Duel
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Pawnee ParksNRec and the Hamilton Thunderbirds, pitcher John Willis was the difference between victory and defeat. The Pawnee right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 1-0 ParksNRec win. Carlton Taylor earned the save for Pawnee, his 5th. At 17-24, the ParksNRec are currently 10th in the Menard's AAA.
The ParksNRec got a big at-bat from designated hitter Claudio Martínez. For the game, Martínez was 1-3 with a home run and a walk. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Pawnee a 1-0 lead.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Willis told a Pawnee Citizen reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
