Riding the 2-hit performance of the 27-year old right fielder Gabriel Turner, the Plymouth Rocks defeated the Hamilton Thunderbirds, 5-2. Plymouth reliever Marvin Justice was the winner. His record is now 4-0. The losing pitcher was John Black. Robert Poynter finished the game for Plymouth and earned his 7th save.
Porter Howell drew 1 walk for Plymouth. The 24-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Matt Maldonado. It was his 8th RBI of the season.
"I'm trying to see the ball big, see the ball up in the zone and put the barrel on it," Turner told the Plymouth Bulletin.
The losing streak for Hamilton has now reached 6 games.
