4-2 Loss Extends Port Huron Losing Streak
|
The Hialeah Dodos topped the Port Huron Blitzkrieg, 4-2, in M3L Triple A action at Port Huron Park. The standout performance belonged to Hialeah pitcher and Amherst, New York, native Tom Schaefer. The winner was Schaefer. He threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The loser was Dan Caine. The save was credited to Carl van Bekenes, his 10th.
Hialeah used the hitting of Michael Smith to pick up the win. The designated hitter clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Dodos on top, 3-0. For the game, Smith had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Been a rough stretch for us," said Port Huron manager Mike Nyberg.
The Blitzkrieg, now 17-35, have lost 6 straight.
