Nobles Send Syracuse Home with 2-1 Loss
The Bakersfield Nobles got a magnificent performance from pitcher David Sullivan, who muffled the Syracuse offense en route to a tight, 2-1 Nobles win at Jerome Grounds. In 7.1 innings, Sullivan surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. The 'W' lifts Bakersfield's record to 17-16.

Bobby Pennington cracked a home run off Hugh Mann in the bottom of the first. His 2-run blast put the Nobles on top, 2-0. In all, Pennington had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"David's as tough as he is talented," said Bakersfield manager Timmy Appeldoorn.
