Blanchard Excels, But Nobles Win
The Bakersfield Nobles spoiled a good performance by Monongahela left fielder Chris Blanchard, bumping off Monongahela, 7-6, at Timber Hawks Ballpark. Blanchard belted 3 home runs. The 8th-place Nobles hiked their record to 20-23.

The Nobles got a big hit from center fielder Siu-chung Chin. Facing Monongahela pitcher Sean Jones in the top of the fifth, Chin pounded a 2-run double to right-center. His 2nd double of the season put the Nobles ahead, 5-4.

Nobles manager Timmy Appeldoorn wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."
