Baton Rouge catcher Andrés Guevara had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Guevara went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs, even as Syracuse beat the Brass, 11-8. Miguel López collected save number 8. The 8th-place Squirrel Monkeys go to 23-25.

The Squirrel Monkeys got an important contribution from second baseman Skip Lee, who in the bottom of the fourth hit a 0-2 splitter to left-center for a 2-run home run. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Squirrel Monkeys ahead, 8-5.

"It was a nice win for our side today," said Squirrel Monkeys manager Ramón Barrueco. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
