The Syracuse Starks knocked off the Bakersfield Nobles, 6-5, in USPL Triple A action at Jerome Grounds. Syracuse pitcher and Havre, Montana, native Todd Johnson had an outstanding performance. The Starks raised their record to 33-30.

Syracuse used the timely hitting of Evan Winn to capture the win. The second baseman socked a grand slam home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Starks ahead, 6-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Syracuse manager Homer Robertson.
