The Zoo in Syracuse was the site of a competitive game between the Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys and Bakersfield Nobles.
Nick Johnston propelled his team to victory over the Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys. The final score was 4-2, Bakersfield. Ed Dodman recorded the save, his 17th.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the sixth, with the game tied, Vern Gordon was at the plate when Bakersfield scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Nobles to go in front, 3-2.
Said losing manager Ramón Barrueco: "Give the Nobles credit. They played a better game than we did."
The win puts Bakersfield at 34-33 this season.
