Fighting Dachshunds Score Late to Nip Nobles, 3-2
|
The Ellenburg Fighting Dachshunds earned a close win over the Bakersfield Nobles, thanks in part to Randy Powell. The Ellenburg left-hander played a key role in the 3-2 victory. Jesús Bojórquez notched the win in relief. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 1.2 innings. His record now sits at 1-0. Picking up the save was Darryl Brady. He's now 8 for 8 in save chances.
Ellenburg took a 3-2 lead on Tony Jackson's 3rd home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Jackson hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Bakersfield pitcher Cordell Dawson visibly frustrated.
"Obviously, you want to go out there and be good every time out," said Powell. "I take the ball every day with the same mindset."
The 5th-place Fighting Dachshunds improved to 43-37.
