The Baton Rouge Brass went home winners at The Zoo in Syracuse, thanks in large part to starter Brandon Whitney. Whitney stifled the Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys, enabling Baton Rouge to grab the 4-1 win. The winning pitcher was Whitney, now 6-1. He tossed 5.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 2. Carl Roy nailed down the save.
Baton Rouge used the hitting of James Lee to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a solo home run in the top of the third inning to put the Brass on top, 2-0. For the game, Lee had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Brandon had good stuff. When he did get into a compromising count, he made the most of it," said Baton Rouge manager Luis Ruíz.
At 52-38, the Brass find themselves in first place in the Premier AAA.
