The Arizona Javelina racked up a win at Field of Plenty, bumping off the Providence Pilgrims, 3-2. Franklin Paige, who started for Arizona, pitched effectively for his team. Picking up his 5th save was 25-year old right-handed pitcher Jim Carter. The 7th-place Pilgrims have lost 4 consecutive games.

Arizona used the timely hitting of Michael Moss to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Javelina on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

Paige expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
