Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Chesapeake Cangrejos Fantasmas got the win.
In a low-scoring affair between the Chesapeake Cangrejos Fantasmas and the St. Petersburg Thunder, pitcher Sumiteru Uemura was the difference between victory and defeat. The Chesapeake right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-2 Cangrejos Fantasmas win. Chesapeake, at 14-10, sits in third place in the Silver AA.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Cangrejos Fantasmas had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the third, when first baseman Carlos Gómez hit a 2-run single. The single came off Otojiro Kozawa and made the score 2-0, Cangrejos Fantasmas. Gómez went 2 for 4 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said St. Petersburg manager Alejandro Mingo.
