Pilgrims Earn Win with Late Rally
|
Pilgrims designated hitter Jessie Wynn left his mark on his team's 3-2 win over the Asheville Highlanders. Wynn was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs for Providence in the contest. Providence pitcher Orlando Sánchez got the win, upping his record to 1-3. Dave Wilson got the loss. Providence is now 19-25, Asheville 23-21.
The decisive blow was delivered by Chris Thomas in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off fireballing left-hander Dave Wilson to win the game for Providence. The home crowd went nuts.
"This game was intense," Thomas said, postgame.
