Arizona Gets 5-4 Win
|
Though he had a terrific game, José Medina could not prevent his team, the St. Petersburg Thunder, from absorbing a loss. Arizona won the game, 5-4. Medina was 3-4 with 2 home runs. Arizona starter Edward Woods was credited with the win after throwing 83 pitches over 5.1 innings. His record now stands at 3-3. The Javelina now have a record of 15-31.
Tom Gardner dealt the Thunder a blow in the top of the sixth. Batting with a runner on 2nd and Arizona leading 4-0, Gardner, who is tied for 7th in the SAA in extra base hits with 17, hit a first pitch cutter for a run-scoring single.
"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Gardner.
