The Squirrel Hill Pierogis and Minnesota Loons riveted fans at Loony Bin.
The exploits of catcher Mark Miller, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2058 draft, helped the Minnesota Loons defeat the Squirrel Hill Pierogis, 5-1. Miller went 4-4 with a double and 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Jesús Delgado, the winner, improved to 3-2. He held Squirrel Hill to 1 run on 5 hits over 5.1 innings, while racking up 9 strikeouts.
With Minnesota leading 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth, Miller hit a run-scoring single off Squirrel Hill hurler Sean Jones. It was the 39th hit of the season for Miller and put his team ahead, 3-1.
Said losing manager Ben Cooper: "Obviously, we wished for a better outcome."
