The Philadelphia Liberty Academy wasted an impressive 8-inning effort from starter Don Swift, falling, 2-0, to the St. Petersburg Thunder at Baby Thunder Dome. The winner was Esteban Aguilar in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Don Swift took the loss. St. Petersburg is now 32-35.
The Thunder got a big at-bat from center fielder Mario Ornelas. For the game, Ornelas was 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 15th home run of the season gave St. Petersburg a 2-0 lead.
St. Petersburg manager Alejandro Mingo commended his team for "banging out a nice win."
