James Payton batted in 4 runs to lead St. Petersburg to a win over Barton Springs. The final score was 8-6. Payton chipped in 1 single and 2 home runs. St. Petersburg reliever Jeffery Newsome picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Ed Hull was saddled with the loss. The Thunder raised their record to 48-40.

In the top of the third inning, the Thunder grabbed the lead when Eric Giles rapped a two-out single. St. Petersburg was trailing 4-3, when Giles hit a 2-run single off Ed Hull to put his team in front, 5-4.

"I was just going up there trying to see good pitches, that was about it," said Payton.
