Cattlemen Collect 5-3 Win Over Kingfishers
|
The Ft. Worth Cattlemen picked up a win at Pittsburgh Grounds, knocking off the Pittsburgh Kingfishers, 5-3, in 10 innings. On the mound for Ft. Worth was left-hander Seung-gwan Kim. He played a pivotal role in the triumph. Reliever Jeff Forrest picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Cipriano Flores, who finished 2nd in the SL in saves with 27 last year, took the loss. John Allen nailed down his 13th save.
Ft. Worth used a timely hit from Julius Sharp to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Cattlemen ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.
"Feels good to be on the winning side," said Kim.
With the win, Ft. Worth pushed its record to 22-20.
