Philadelphia Liberty starter Bobby Johnson turned in an exceptional performance against the Echo Park Lakers at Liberty Park, resulting in a Philadelphia win, 4-2. Dick Hill, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 2nd save. By defeating Echo Park, the second-place Liberty improved to 26-16.
Bartolo Rojas dealt the Lakers a blow in the bottom of the sixth. Batting with runners on 1st and 3rd and Philadelphia leading 2-1, Rojas hit a 0-1 cutter for a run-scoring single.
"Bobby gave us a heck of an effort," said Philadelphia manager Geoff Matt.
